J. Stephen Shi, Attorney. Prior to establishing his own law firm, Steve Shi was a partner in the Environmental Law Practice Group in the Atlanta office of the international law firm of Kilpatrick Stockton. Previously he was the head of the environmental practice group for the Atlanta office of another national law firm and prior to that he was a partner in the Winston-Salem office of a regional law firm where he established its environmental practice, supervising its expansion into a group of over 15 lawyers at the time of his relocation to his hometown of Atlanta in 1995.

He entered the private practice of law after serving for 14 years on active duty as an officer in the Marine Corps. During this time he served as both an infantry and reconnaissance officer, including a combat tour in Vietnam and as a judge advocate following his graduation from law school under the auspices of a Marine Corps program.

As a private practitioner, he has developed an extensive practice representing a wide range of industrial and commercial clients in virtually all types of environmental, health and safety and land use matters. Mr. Shi has received the highest rating for professional skill and ethical conduct by the highly-respected Martindale-Hubble Law Directory. He has also been recognized for the last nine years as one of "The Best Lawyers in America" in Environmental Law in a nationwide annual survey among lawyers whose practice is limited to environmental law. He is also an adjunct faculty member of the University of Georgia School of Law.
